Comments: Regret that I only learned of the reunion yesterday (was startled to find that I was missing, although I often do feel that I am) and unfortunately have long-standing plans this week-end. I hope you all have a fabulous time and put lots of information on the website for those of us who can't make it. I'll still be thinking of you all as seventeen.
In a wild show of initiative, I'm still living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (30 yrs), still married to the estimable Stuart Abrams (27 yrs) and still working in civil rights at the NYS Division of Human Rights (25 yrs). I thought of myself as a bit of a risk taker in high school, but apparently not. What can I say: love the neighborhood, love the guy, love the job.
On the slightly more interesting side, I am now General Counsel at Human Rights, an appointment that coincided to the day with our second child's acceptance into college and the winding down of maternal duties. Now I can travel and work longer hours without worrying about haranguing anybody about homework. Stuart is also a lawyer though in his defense a wonderful piano player too and we are kind of looking forward to an empty nest if it ever, in fact, empties. Steve, 18, left for Philadelphia last week as a freshman at Penn; Allie, 23, graduated from same in 2006 and is working in a research lab at Columbia while applying to med school. It turns out that if you live in NYC, your children don't mind moving home after college, though Allie frequently has the apartment to herself, as Stuart and I spend most weekends in the country near Lakeville, CT.
I, for one, would like to utilize some of Polly's "Aging Services".

Occupation: dean and professor
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 1
Comments: Recently, Rob and I (married for 36 years) returned to CT, where I became dean and professor of nursing at the University of CT. It is great to be home again!
I just finished a three year contract as dean and professor at a small midwest college in Chicago and am delighted to be back in a research institution.
We just purchased an old home in Tolland and will move there early in 08--after some remodeling. We learned from our first home in Madison, CT, that living in a home while it is remodeled is one of those things you only do once.
Come visit.

Marital Status: Single Again
No. of Children: 4
Comments: Married to Steve Doriss from 73-91, during which time we produced 4 beautiful daughters, who are now 32 (with 2 small boys, almost 3 and 18 months), 28, 26 and 22. Got them all through college and now the grad school years have begun for the middle 2. I adore being grandma, get to experience the fun times all over again. After college, spent several years as a flight attendant. Moved to California with Steve, who is still a woodworker, and became a published textile artist with 2 books, and eventually moved into freelance illustration for architects, realtors and developers. It's amazing to think of how much time has passed by. Couldn't make the 20th, too many small kids at the time, but going to try to get there this time. I know there are a lot of us out here in N. California, so a mini-reunion is a good idea as well. Thanks, John, for putting this together.

Occupation: Psychologist
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 3
Comments: I started working with troubled youth in the 70's, after having too much fun traveling with a rock band for a few years. I went to grad school and have had a private practice in family psychology with my lovely wife Virginia of 23 years, ever since. We are the lucky parents of a 19 yo son, Kelan Matthew, and a 14 yo daughter, Julie. I had a brief first marraige to Ann Wheeler and we had a wonderful daughter, Alexandra. Ali is a 31 yo, married, school teacher and mother of an 18 month old son, Caleb, whom we cherish. For some of us, this is more than a 40 yr high school reunion. It is a reunion of people who have known eachother since grade school, Cub Scouts & Little League ! I consider this a very special opportunity and appreciate being able to attend. Sad to see the list of classmates who will not have the opportunity to share with the rest of us. Special thanks to John and all others for facilitating this event. I hope Cap Allen will share the secret of exactly what it is he is doing........ Below, a gift from George Carlin:
George Carlin's Views on Aging
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key
You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed? You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone. But wait! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would! So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60 .
You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday! You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92." Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I 'm 100 and a half!" Best wishes to all

Comments: Thanks, John for taking the lead to pull this together. I've made my reservations and I'll be there! Quick bio update: After graduating from Johns Hopkins, I worked in Washington D.C. as an economist with the U.S. Department of Commerce for three decades. Today, I'm retired and in living in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida. But in reality I'm still working 24/7 as President of my condo association.
